Is "The main reason for tourists to visit to stay in Shiraz in Persepolis, Iran is the equivalent of ancient Rome and built by Persepolis Leptis Magna in a period of 150 years from now and 512BC during the reign of DariusI, Xerxes I & II and Artaxerxes I, II and III. Unfortunately, it was ravaged by fire in 331BC during Alexander the Great’s time; either accidentally or deliberately — the historians are undecided. Personally, I believe it was no accident. After all, Xerxes had recently destroyed Athens, so it would be understandable if the Great Alex was somewhat angered by those troublesome Persians. History lesson over and while the travel guides tell you that a good deal of imagination is needed to gain a feel for it’s true magnificence, that is true for many ancient cities and this one is more ancient than most. The restoration work that has been carried out is in keeping with the site and has not been overdone as we’re seen elsewhere., The stars of Persopolis are undoubtedly the numerous stone bas-reliefs of kings, princes, visiting courtiers from ancient civilisations, soldiers and animals.
