With a privileged location in the heart of Europe – literally and figuratively – now Germany is a fasc inating destination with: a land of high culture, beer foam, half-timbered villages and dynamic urban landscapes. Nobody expected a homogeneous country according to the rigidity of the Teutonic stereotypes is a surprise. Germany has been freed from the shackles of its inglorious past to present itself as a country of great diversity, known for its modern architecture and its wide-field view of the horizon. Tourists will find a heady mix of wilderness, fine arts and youthful creativity. |

The capital, Berlin has a reputation (forged by the legendary "Roaring Twenties") as the hip and hedonistic community where almost anything goes. In contrast, the calm of the historic towns such as Heidelberg and Freiburg University Academic convey a totally disagree with the calm atmosphere of the capital.

History of GermanyThe territory now known as Germany was for many centuries, a loose collection of independent (and often conflicting) states, the achievement of unification and victory in the Franco-Prussian War of 1871. A period of political, economic and military positions itself as a genuine world power. After the defeat in World War I, however, the Treaty of Versailles led to the country is divided again, this time in East and West Germany. An economic crisis led to the emergence of the National Socialist German Workers (Nazi), so that Adolf Hitler’s head of state. The initial military success in World War II ended in another defeat, although the economy right now recovered more quickly. The meeting took place in October 1990. Since 1995, new leadership in the aspirant Chancellor Gerhard Schröder has emerged to challenge the long tradition of Christian Democratic government Helmut Kohl (CDU). Schröder came to power in 1998, his reign comes to an end amid confusion after inconclusive elections in September 2005. Germany faces weeks of uncertainty resulting in a deal that saw Angela Merkel was sworn in as first woman chancellor of Germany. Currently faces major economic problems as a result of the global recession. |
